All about using different Surgical Face Mask for Haze

Regarding an article on theStar today. It says that the particle size would range arround 2.5 micron to 10 micron. Based on that information only I can certain that some Surgical Face Mask out there can actually filter out haze.

Here is the few types of mask we have in the market.

Dust Mask
Papermask
There is 1-ply and 2-ply dust mask out in the market and it look like the picture on top. There is no filter, the material is made of paper.
Highly not recomended, but I see some people wearing it as well.

Surgical Face Mask / 3-Ply / 2-Ply Face Mask
Sub-Micron Surgical Mask
Above is a Surgical Face Mask, why is it surgical?
it is because there is a filter layer in the middle (call meltblown). According to a study done by my company, 25gram meltblown could filter out 0.1 micron particle effectively 98.9%. Therefore, based on the reading, it is safe to use it in the current haze situation. While we also have another lower grade Surgical face mask with 20gram which is not tested against particle size but it is still better than those with without any filter.

Here is how the filter looks like
Meltblown Filter
Meltblown looks like some paper and you will be able to see a lot of webs when you see it through the light.

Becareful, 2-ply and 3-ply face mask actually does not have any filter in it. Even though with 3 layer, middle layer may not be meltblow. But by vision is pretty hard to differentiate.

N95
I think this is highly recommended, but I have no test against particle. Because the ussage of N95 is at industrial therefore, it should filter more particle than bacteria and virus. N95 is a respirator mask and many of the expensive ones are produce by US companies like 3M. People with asthma would be recommended to wear some of these expensive ones.

My company N95
N95

3M N95
3M N95 & Me
Is quite hard to breath in these and I am not sure how much the market is selling these.

Another more canggih 3M N95
3M N95
3M N95
This is very good and canggih. It has an opening in the middle which allows better breathability.

I can get some facemask and was thinking of giving it out to promote my website (Classifieds) for free any idea how to give it out?
